What it does

Start from the date, not the month
You give it a deadline and the cash that has to exist on it. Everything is then measured against that day — not against a monthly budget, and not against what you spent on lunch.

See where the plan actually lands
Your balances, what comes in, what goes out, and the one-offs that may or may not happen. It projects month by month to the deadline and draws a conservative-to-optimistic band, because a single confident line would promise a certainty nobody has.

See what gets you there
If the plan does not reach the target, it works out the monthly amount that does — or the date you would reach it on the plan you already have. Those are the only two things you can trade, so those are the two it solves for you.
How it is built
It is a forecast about someone’s rent, so the arithmetic is not allowed to be clever.
Every figure is deterministic. The same inputs always produce the same output, including the estimated chance of getting there. Nothing on any screen is a number a language model wrote. The optional coach explains figures that have already been computed, is told never to calculate one, and its output is checked against a schema before it can appear.
There is no bank connection. No transaction feed, no categories, no report about your coffee. The engine does not know what a transaction is — it knows income, outgoings, dated one-offs, debts with an interest rate, and the balances you state at check-in.
Your plan stays on your device unless you ask for sync or reminders, which is also the only reason to make an account. And when there is not enough history to know your own month-to-month variance, it shows no percentage at all rather than an invented one.
Where it runs
Runway is a web app you can open now. It is built mobile-first, works offline, and installs to an iPhone home screen from the browser.
A native iOS build exists — signed, and sitting on Apple’s servers — but it has not been submitted for review, so there is nothing on the App Store yet. When there is, it will be said here first.
Legal and support
Runway’s policy, terms and support pages live here on the company site rather than inside a deployment, so the addresses stay reachable wherever the app happens to be running.
Who builds it
Runway is made by Otherpath, a studio building software for changing what happens next. The other product is Noum, which does the same job for a conversation rather than a deadline.
